FAQs

Any Missourian aged 14 to 36 who supports Democratic values can join Missouri Young Democrats. Membership includes high school students, college students, young professionals, and grassroots activists who want to build progressive power in Missouri. We exist to advance progressive priorities like reproductive freedom, climate action, and workers’ rights, and we welcome all Democrats, whether progressive, moderate, or somewhere in between, because unity is how we win elections and protect our communities.
-
Fill out the Membership Form. When you join, you are connected with a chapter in your community if one exists. This may be a county-based chapter, a college Democrats group, or a high school Democrats group. Membership to Missouri Young Democrats is always free with no dues, no fees, and no barriers to participation. As a member, you gain access to statewide trainings, leadership development programs, conventions, campaign opportunities, and progressive advocacy efforts.
-
Anyone can start a county or geographically based Missouri Young Democrats chapter. You don’t need to be a student to organize your community. If you are currently enrolled in a high school or college, you may also start a campus chapter through Missouri High School Democrats or Missouri College Democrats.
-
To charter a new chapter, you’ll need at least three members, basic officer roles, and simple bylaws aligned with our constitution. College and High School chapters may also need to identify a faculty or staff advisor. Once you submit the Chartering Form, our Membership and Outreach Committee will review your application, provide templates and resources, and connect you with statewide leadership so you can start organizing voter registration drives, grassroots campaigns, and progressive issue advocacy right away.
-
If your high school or college Democrats group is affiliated with Missouri Young Democrats and listed on our Chapters page, then every member of that chapter is automatically a member of Missouri Young Democrats. This unified structure makes sure campus leaders are also part of the statewide movement, giving you access to trainings, conventions, and statewide campaigns. If your group is listed but you are not receiving communications from us, please fill out our Membership Form to ensure you are fully connected.
-
If there is not currently a chapter in your community or on your campus, you can still join Missouri Young Democrats through our Membership Form. Once enough members are in the same area, Missouri Young Democrats will help you organize and charter a new chapter so you and your peers can begin building power locally.
-
